Happy Whatever!

I've just noticed my last post was a couple of weeks ago, so I guess an update is due. Our son visited us for a week over Christmas: a splendid time was had, and he managed to avoid being caught in the wave of snow and cancellations that more or less crippled the UK/European airline industry (oddly, while EasyJet cancelled hundreds of flights, Ryanair merrily carried on flying on the same routes).

MamaDuck and I had a quiet New Year's Eve watching it on telly (boring old farts, I know). We'd forgotten to buy the traditional festive grapes (skinless and seedless, for preference: you're supposed to swallow one for every bong of the midnight bells), so we did it with satsuma segments instead. We had a nice bottle of cava to wash them down with, though.

Today is the final bit of Christmas in Spain, the arrival of the Kings. Once again, we plan to be boring auld farts and watch the parade on TV. We did go to a concert this afternoon - a very accomplished choir singing in the Museo Sorolla. It would have been perfect had there been chairs to sit on rather than a hard wooden floor.

I hope you all had a cracking festive season, and I for one am pleased to see the end of a seriously crap year (business/money-wise), and indeed a pretty shitty decade (the best part of which was our move to Spain).

¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
